Named after the God of Fire, the Aeolian Island of Vulcano is located off the coast of Sicily. The island is home to one of the most active volcanoes in Europe and is known for its dramatic landscapes, therapeutic mud baths and beautiful beaches.
For a natural spa day, guests can visit the Pozza dei Fanghi, mud baths (a 4-minute drive), followed by a trip to Spiaggia delle Acque Calde (a 3-minute drive), a natural jacuzzi where submarine volcanic fumaroles eject hot steam.
The waters around Vulcano offer incredible diving and snorkelling experiences, featuring lava formations, volcanic caves and an abundance of marine life. Guests can hire a boat, take an excursion or drive to dive sites including Punta Aria (a 24-minute drive) Gelso Beach or Spiaggia dell\'Asino (both a 26-minute drive). The closest airport to Vulcano is Catania-Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) in Sicily. Visitors will need to take the ferry/hydrofoil from Milazzo (a 1-hour 45-minute drive from the airport) to reach the island (approximately a 1-hour 45-minute journey).
