Villa Adelaida Órgiva | Cottage in Orgiva, Spain
Welcome to this 200-year-old traditional country house, which has been in the hands of a local family for many years. Their warmth and the legacy of their family history—passed down with love from parents to children—are reflected in the rooms.

Located just 300 meters from Órgiva, it’s a pleasant walk of less than five minutes from town. The path leads to the automatically opening main gate, which, once opened, reveals lush gardens. Ancient cypresses, orange trees, and other fruit trees (grapefruit, persimmon, quince, plum, avocado, lemons, and mandarins) stand majestically against the backdrop of the Sierra Lújar. Ornamental plants, geraniums, rose bushes, and hibiscus add a splash of color to the gardens. Two mill wheels, a water trough, and the sound of the irrigation canal running alongside the farm remind us of the agricultural character of the fertile Guadalfeo Valley.
The pool will immediately catch your eye! It’s beautifully situated and invites you to take a relaxing dip—the blue of the water contrasts pleasantly with the greenery and colors of the garden. At night, it puts on a spectacular display of color thanks to its multicolored LED lighting. A fountain with water lilies completes the scene, making your sunbathing experience twice as relaxing.
Beyond the pool is the charming gazebo with a central table and chairs for seven people to enjoy al fresco lunches. It also features several armchairs where everyone can relax comfortably. An ornamental fountain surrounded by stone benches completes the relaxed atmosphere of this outdoor space, which will undoubtedly be the highlight of your family vacation.
You enter the house through the main entrance, and in the foyer you’ll find traces of times gone by. The floor proudly showcases its traditional tiles, while the ceiling beams and the antique mirrored sideboard offer a glimpse of the house’s classic essence.
From the foyer, we enter the living room—not an overly large space, as is traditional in the Alpujarra, but extremely cozy and inviting. Here, the house’s traditional decor is even more evident—an antique sideboard displays local ceramics, and brass utensils on the mantelpiece lend an old-world charm.
An arch in the thick walls leads to the kitchen. Although old traditional kitchen utensils are on display, the kitchen is more practical and adapted to modern needs. It is equipped with the modern appliances we typically find in our homes.
The owners invite you to taste the wines from their own vineyard; a bottle of white wine and another of red await you upon arrival, courtesy of the charming Angelina. For those who wish to repeat the experience, additional bottles are available in the kitchen via a self-service payment system (honesty box).
On this same floor is a full bathroom with a shower, designed in the same practical style.
The stairs lead you to the first floor, to a hallway that provides access to the various rooms. The master bedroom, featuring a double bed, has a large window and traditional wrought-iron “rejas.”
Also on this floor is another double bedroom with two single beds, a fully equipped white bathroom with a shower, the laundry room, and access to a sunny terrace. This terrace (which can also be accessed from the outside) is perfect for enjoying an aperitif while taking in the views of the garden and the swimming pool.
Returning to the interior of the house, you go up to the second floor, where there are two more bedrooms: one with a single bed and the other with two single beds. Also on this floor is a half-bath and a magnificent game room. The game room features a spectacular window that floods the room with light. It features a well-stocked library, board games, a fireplace, a television with Netflix, and a PlayStation PS4 Pro that will delight both the little ones and the not-so-young…
From here, more stairs lead to the sun terrace, which offers impressive views of the Andalusian landscape surrounding the house.
